Only if you select Naira as one of your currencies during verification.
Your BVN (Bank Verification Number) and NIN (National Identification Number) confirm your identity under Nigerian financial regulations. Naira transactions can't be enabled without them.
If you only use euros or pounds
You won't be asked for either. The profile step only expands to ask for them once Naira is selected — and when it does, you'll also see a checkbox you need to tick: "I understand that BVN and NIN are required for Naira transactions."
What they're used for
Identity verification, and nothing else. They confirm you are who your ID says you are, so that naira conversions can be enabled on your account.
Getting it right first time
Enter them exactly as they're registered. The most common reason verification fails isn't the identifiers themselves but the name attached to them — a shortened first name, a missing middle name, or a transposed date of birth.
Copy your details from your government-issued ID rather than typing them from memory. A mismatch means starting the identity step again.
If you didn't select Naira and now need it
Chat with us from inside the app and we'll tell you what's needed to add it.
