Short answer: yes. Your funds don't live on our servers — so an outage can slow you down, but it can never take your money.
Your money lives on the blockchain, not on our servers
Think of it this way: ENTA the app is a window into your wallet — it isn't the wallet itself.
Your actual wallet lives on the blockchain, a public network that no single company runs — not even us. It's controlled by the passkey on your device (the one you unlock with Face ID or Touch ID). Our systems help you use it — showing your balance, preparing your payments, powering the app — but the money itself sits on the blockchain, under your key.
So if our systems have a technical problem, the window gets foggy for a while. The wallet behind it is untouched.
During an outage
What might be temporarily affected:
Opening the app or seeing your live balance
Sending new payments until service is restored
What can never be affected:
Ownership of your funds — they stay yours, controlled by your key
Your balance and transaction history, which are recorded on the blockchain, not on our servers
An outage is an inconvenience, not a risk to your money. Nothing about it can cause your funds to be lost, frozen, or moved.
The bigger question: "What if Shiga disappeared entirely?"
It's fair to ask — crypto users have been burned before by platforms that shut down and took access to funds with them. That usually happened because those platforms held customers' money for them. When the company went, the money went.
ENTA is deliberately built the other way:
1. We never hold your money. Your funds are on the blockchain, controlled by your passkey — not sitting in a Shiga account.
2. Your wallet is built on open standards, not locked to our app. Your ENTA wallet uses the same widely-adopted wallet standard as much of the industry. That means it isn't a proprietary box that only ENTA can open — it's a standard account that exists independently of us.
3. You can add a backup device. Enrolling a second device (or a synced passkey) means you always have another key of your own — useful if you lose your phone, and your independent way in, no matter what.
This is a core design principle we call no lock-in: your wallet must never depend on Shiga continuing to exist. We built it so that even in the most extreme scenario imaginable, your money would still be yours and still be reachable.
What about outages on our side — how rare are they?
We design our infrastructure with redundancy so that outages are rare and short. But we don't ask you to trust our uptime — we designed the wallet so that even a worst-case failure can't touch your funds. That's the difference between "trust us" and "you don't have to."
Quick summary
Where your money lives | On the blockchain — not on ENTA's servers |
Who controls it | You, via the passkey on your device |
What an outage affects | App access and new payments, temporarily |
What an outage can't affect | Your funds, your ownership, your history |
If Shiga disappeared | Your wallet still exists and is still yours — it's built on open standards with no lock-in |
