How to set up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Add an extra layer of security to your Shiga account in under two minutes.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) protects your account by requiring two forms of verification instead of just a password. Even if your password is ever compromised, no one can access your account without the second factor.

The two methods Shiga offers

  • Email verification: a one-time code is sent to your registered email. Best for simplicity.

  • Authenticator app (recommended): Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator generates a time-sensitive 6-digit code that refreshes every 30 seconds. Best for stronger security, since it doesn't rely on email.

Step-by-step

  1. Log in to your Shiga dashboard.

  2. Go to Account Settings in the left-hand menu.

  3. Under Security, open the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) options.

  4. Choose your method — Email or Authenticator app.

  5. If you chose an authenticator app: download Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator, then scan the QR code on screen. If scanning doesn't work, enter the setup key shown on your screen manually.

  6. Enter the 6-digit code from your chosen method.

  7. Click Authorize to confirm. Your 2FA is now set.

Good to know

  • You can switch between email and authenticator app only once every 24 hours. This prevents rapid changes that could signal account compromise.

  • Never share your 2FA codes or private key with anyone.

  • Keep a backup option in place — if you lose access to your 2FA method, account recovery can be difficult.
